Technical Assistance Coordination and Capacity
Implementing conservation practices on farms, ranches, and forestlands requires strong, coordinated technical assistance (TA) networks that can support land managers on the ground. As funding sources contract and uncertainty grows across the field, many TA providers face capacity constraints and fragmented systems of support.
VCI is bringing together leaders from across sectors to explore ways to strengthen coordination, maximize existing expertise, reduce duplication, and improve support for private land managers implementing agriculture and forestry practices as natural climate solutions. By building a more connected and resilient TA network, this effort aims to accelerate practices that reduce emissions, sequester carbon, enhance ecosystem resilience, and strengthen the economic viability of working lands.
Technical assistance has emerged as a recurring priority across VCI’s convenings, creating an opportunity to unite diverse networks around a shared challenge and identify practical solutions. This gathering will convene approximately 30 peer-selected participants—including farmers, technical assistance providers, government representatives, nonprofits, universities, businesses, conservation districts, and funders—to share expertise, build relationships, and collaborate on strategies for the future.
In the spirit of VCI convenings, participants will have space to slow down, connect with peers, and engage with the landscapes they seek to serve. This respite from day-to-day responsibilities will help create the conditions for thoughtful dialogue, innovation, and collective action.
