MACKENZIE FELDMAN

I am from Hawai'i and part Native Hawaiian and I definitely feel that it has shaped my beliefs and inspiration when it comes to food sovereignty and the work that I do! When I was a student, I started a movement to eliminate herbicides from colleges across the country called Re:wild Your Campus. I continue to lead this organization today, and I am also currently in graduate school at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley studying Agroecology, where I work with farmers in the Rio Grande Valley who are interested in doing cover cropping. I recently wrote a book with my mom called Groundbakers, and it is a plant-based cookbook that highlights 16 food systems leaders. I also am involved with policy with a group called Data For Progress, where I help make policy recommendations when it comes to land access, regenerative agriculture, soil health, farmworkers, and more. I am passionate about educating and empowering everyday people on how they can be change-makers in their community. I know that fighting for a world without toxins and with access to healthy food is what I will always want to do.
