Gordon Myers

Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies

Gordon brings more than three decades of experience in public service and conservation leadership, including 12 years as Executive Director of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and his current role as Landscape Conservation Coordinator for the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. His journey began in engineering and evolved into a deep passion for landscape-scale, locally grounded conservation.

Formative experiences in the Southeast shaped Gordon’s perspective—not as a top-down directive, but as a patchwork of trust-based relationships, local ingenuity, and shared outcomes. He’s come to believe that the most lasting progress grows from listening, mutual understanding, and a willingness to find common ground.

He joins this retreat with a deep appreciation for the Appalachian region—and a belief that how we work together is as important as the work itself.
