Enabling the Future of Land Stewardship

for Climate and Social Resilience in the Hudson Valley

retreat focus

How might we support current and future land stewards in the Hudson Valley to be in service to thriving climate and social systems?

The Hudson Valley has a long history of being a nodal point for resource flow, including generations of experiences of abundance and tribulation - the benefits of which we continue to learn from. As emergent populations of people take on land stewardship in this region, with increasingly different knowledge, skills, lifestyles, resources, and desires; we have an opportunity to articulate the principles of what we know to be important, and guide how this land is cared for. All of this in a moment when the ability of this land and the people occupying it to thrive is of enormous consequence to living systems everywhere.

This retreat aims to convene a diverse group of individuals whose perspectives, knowledge, and roles might inform how we support the stewardship of the Hudson Valley region. We hope this time together will invite new ways of thinking, inspire creativity, and catalyze meaningful action.

Emergent Initiatives

  • This retreat centered around building and strengthening networks to inspire, inform and support ongoing work in service to climate and social resilience in the Hudson Valley bioregion. It marked the beginning of a series of regional gatherings to continue to strengthen and develop shared capacities, resources, and activities in service to specific nature based nodal points for positive impact. The hope is that these will have a ripple effect into additional networks and regions.
